well. the planets aligned and i got out this morning.
went to grab the 45BC only to find the the Star Drag was corroded onto the Shaft. went out without it and was punished by the Alvey gods with a great day, several bites, and no fish.
in reviewing the Reel this afternoon, i can only assume that i didn't rinse it down last time out, or have it apart when i originally got it so, subsequently, i didn't lube up the Shaft, Washers, etc.
This will not happen again, and i beg your forgiveness.
public flogging is not needed.. ;-)

Naaa.. Green kitchen scrubby thing and that marine anti-corrosion stuff from the car parts store then light '3 in 1 Oil' on everything (ran out of Penn Oil).  |

Here, the old (by everybody) known is the Singer Oil. Cheap and common everywhere.

Ok Had the 45 apart a few days ago for a preliminary look. Was kinda tight and ugly.. Took it apart again just now for a real review and a clean and lube.         Cleaned up pretty easy. Green scouring pad for most and a light File for the Drag Washers Greased, light Oil, and a wipe down and she's back as good as new.  If I had taken her apart and lubed everything up when I had gotten her, and of course hosed her down when done, this wouldn't have happened.. Steve |

In fact, people say fish like WD40 [b I think they do . catfish do I purty sure I have soaked chicken liver in it and caught blues and I have squirted it on some dead worms and it worked to. Give it a try ..... |

Man, I heard that about WD40 before and thought it was just a weird local thing, I may try it, although I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. It just seems wrong somehow, haha.
